Wild Mountain Thyme

I think I've done this one on everything I've ever played at one time or another. My dad was a really fine whistler and he used to whistle it with all kinds of "doodly-doos" in the melody. I find it a really haunting tune.

Cheers Boog, Irish or Scottish?? :D also known as"Will You Go Lassie, Go" and I believe Joan Baez might of covered it at one time too but I've been known to be wrong :roll:

Hi Bluesman ... according to Wikipedia it was written by Francis McPeake, of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is a variant of a traditional song The Braes of Balquhidder by Robert Tannahill.

This is lovely. I know its not really the same, but it reminded me of something else I like Uilleann Pipes!
